16oz water with lemon

20oz Genmaicha tea

1Qt. Celery, Apple, Coconut water, Rasberry (delicious!)

Working on a Qt. of Apple, carrot

I bought an enema bag today and will start using it a few times per week. I will also be adding Cascara Sagrada, Hemp oil, and a powdered green to my daily routine.

Over the weekend, I received an email asking how I came about the determination to give everything up to do this cleanse. Many of you may be interested in doing a cleanse but see it as ‘giving up’ something. Until you no longer see it as ‘giving up’ things but ‘gaining’ enormous clarity and health, you are not ready to embark on such a cleanse. Don’t be hard on yourself for that fact. It is just that – a fact. And in the future, you will no longer see it so tough. At that point, you will be ready. This method of thinking goes for all you embark upon; breaking habits, starting new ones, losing weight, starting a new hobby, etc. Be patient with yourself and in your own time, along your own path, you will come into such experiences you’re witnessing others around you accomplish.

But to answer how I came upon this ‘will-power’ to take on such a feast…

Disease was my biggest motivator in 2003 to start a new, healthier way of life. I had ups and downs from then till now but overall, I’ve led a healthier life. All too often, people don’t realize what it feels like to be ‘healthy.’ Whether its being free from strong body odor, as we should be, or free from stuffy noses when we wake, as we should be, the general population are not accustom to feeling this freedom I discovered at certain times during the first couple years after I made my ‘health’ commitment.

I stopped working so hard on my health after breaking my back. It was then I realized how much better I felt before I stopped working on health. In the Fall of 2005, I started school for a degree in Holistic Medicine. This started me towards a deeper understanding of what it means to be healthy. That January I quit many things cold turkey and fasted for the month of January. I went vegetarian afterwards and 100% raw in June of 2006. I ate all raw for a good 8 months or so until my will power started to become less sturdy. I started enjoying some of the ‘healthier’ foods I used to enjoy cooked. While I maintained 80-90% raw, I felt a weakness and wanted that empowerment again. January 2007, I fasted again.

Cleansing the body such as during a fast, presents so much empowerment. You feel dutiful to maintain the clarity and purity you feel afterwards. I have since maintained about 90% raw since then, which will continue to be my goal.

So in amongst that long story is the answer to where I get my will-power from. In January, during my fast, I blogged with a fellow raw fooder who was doing this 92 day juice feast. I wondered how this can be healthy and so I researched it further. I bought her book and decided I will do this someday. While preparing for my yearly January fast, I asked myself ‘what is stopping me from such a journey?’ and no good excuse came forth, so here I am.

At first I wasn’t sure whether my feast would last 30-60 or 60-90 days. I wasn’t sure I could drink that much liquids. As my first week has shown me, I CAN and so I am going for 60-90 days. It is likely to be on the side of 60 rather than 90 because I’ll be going on a cruise in March for my mom’s birthday. When doing a feast or fast, you MUST come off the feast/fast with care. You’ve just cleaned your pipes and organs. Your digestive tract isn’t used to working so you must ‘start it’ up again with time. It is this reason, I may be ending my feast closer to 60 days – so I have enough time to gently eat again before taking a week at sea.

Cheers!

Day 6

What a lovely day. I went Christmas shopping with my mom and invested in a Rebounder! What a great work out – and FUN too! Here is a neat link on rebounding: http://www.bounce-safe.com/id59.htm

Today I drank:

16oz water with lemon

1Qt. Spinach, Celery, Romaine, Radish, Cucumber, Carrot, Pineapple

1Qt. Carrot, Celery, Apples

3/4Qt. Orange Juice

1Qt. Romaine, Watermelon, Grape, Tangerine

I feel wonderful and full of energy. I jumped on the rebounder, hopped around with my neice and nephew, shopped with mom, saw The Golden Compass (AMAZING MOVIE BTW) and now I’ll do some homework – Pathophysiology.

Cheers!

Day 5

What a lovely day. Although I didn’t get up early enough to make enough juice for work, It still looks like I’ll drink enough or at least nearly enough.

Today I drank:

1Qt. Celery, Spinach, Romaine, Pineapple, Carrot

1Qt. Orange Juice

1Qt. Lemon, Apple, Ginger with cinnamon and coconut water (oh my this is lovely)

3/4 Qt (so far) Watermelon, Grape

 To recap my progress –

Although I began not knowing whether or not I could drink enough, it seems as though I can handle and quite enjoy my 4 Qts of juice each day. I havn’t gotten hungry but for fleeting moments here and there. Only the first day was tough; since then – glorious! I have lost 6 pounds which is normal. I should start losing less after the first week. I’m in it for the long haul and am quite excited. Several people have suggested I look different and that may face is less red. Normally, a ring of redness is noticed at my jawline and now the color is gradual up my face. It’s a lovely sign that disease is already getting its butt kicked.

Cheers!

Day 4

Today I drank:

16oz warm water with lemon

1Qt Spinach, Romaine, Celery, Pineapple, Radish, Carrot

1Qt. Apple, Pear, Cucumber, Celery, Parsley, Carrot

1Qt. Watermelon Grape

1Qt. Orange Juice

20oz tea

16oz water

Feeling fantastic and not burping as much as I did in the first few days. According to a friend of mine, in Chinese Medicine, burping indicates getting rid of wastes and evil. Sure enough – I got lots to get rid of.

I had my first Clairvoyant Circle tonight and felt amazing afterwards. I now have a meditation to practice before next weeks class. Even though I don’t like crying in front of others, several of the circle-mates pointed out how society has put such a bad view on crying which in fact it is sooo healthy to release and renew our spirits. When does anyone feel BADLY after a good cry? Never. Granted, as another friend has pointed out – emotions can take control of us at times so we should learn to acknowledge our emotions and deal with the inner issues at hand rather than let them lead us around. It’s a delicate balance.

 Cheers!

Day 3

I’ve graduated from ‘faster’ to ‘feaster’ today with a grand total of 4 Qts. juice in ADDITION to my other liquids. I’ve felt fantastic all day. I could live on juices! Getting past that first day was well worth the clarity and joy I feel now.

Today I drank the following:

20oz water with lemon

1Qt. Spinach, Celery, Romaine, Beet, Carrot, Pineapple

1Qt. Celery, Orange, Apple, Carrot

1Qt. Watermelon, Red Grape (absolutely glorious)

1Qt. Orange Juice

20oz warm tea

20oz water

Onward towards another wonderful day of juicing bliss.

Day 2

After sleeping 13 hours, I woke up feeling wonderful, rejuvinated, and renewed. Looks like I made it past my healing crisis. As a Nutrition Consultant, I often advise people of the common ‘healing crisis’ that occurs during cleanses such as while juicing, but I had YET to experience it myself. Aside from the normal worse breath and body odor that accompanies a cleanse, I had never experienced such a headache and nausea as I did on Day 1. So good thing for Day 2.

I am still not done with my 3rd Qt. of juice but its one more than yesterday so I’m on my way to feasting!

What I’ve drank so far (7pm):

1 Qt. of Celery, Red Grape, Lime

1Qt. of Beet, Carrot, Apple, Celery

Nearly 1 Qt. of Spinach, Swiss Chard, Kale, Celery, Apple, Cucumber, Tomato

20 oz warm water with lemon

20 oz green tea with jasmine

24 oz water

Day 1

Wow. I do not recall feeling so terrible during my first two ‘January Fasts’ as I did on day one of this feast. Nor was I able to drink as much as I’m supposed to. So I decided to listen to my body and go to bed after work. I slept 13 hours and boy was it needed. I woke up feeling fantastic without the normal nervousness before juicing but by mid-day I felt very nauseated, tired and moody.

On day one I drank:

1 Qt. carrot juice

3/4 Qt. spinach, kale, swiss chard, celery, lemon

3/4 Qt. water with lemon

16 oz tea

I will work up to drinking the recommended 4 Qts. of juice since I plan to do this for 60-90 days. If it were a fast, as I normally do, 2 Qts. juice would be fine. In order to get all the nutrition I need to reverse disease and not loose too much weight for 60 -90 days, I need the full gallon.

Cheers!
